About
I originally came up with the idea of the Bartule in 2006 at my family’s summer camp in Ontario, Canada. There, I saw a simple turn of the century pewter barware utensil with a spoon on one end and a small cup/jigger on the other. In the center of the stem was a bottle opener. I instantly thought it was the most ingenious, fun design I had ever seen. Thus the seed was planted for The Bartule, an all-in-one barware solution taking care of all your cocktail making needs.
Forward three years to 2009. I found myself a struggling furniture maker under the weight of the Great Recession. Furniture orders dropped overnight and I knew I needed to think of a solution fast. The Bartule was born!
Working full time in my shop, I fitted furniture making and design time on The Bartule in whenever I could. There were a lot of late nights and early mornings back then but all the hard work paid off. Having no formal training I learned as I went, making phone calls from the west to east coast and meeting a lot kind people willing to help me on my way.
Finally in 2010 I had 500 units to test the market with and showed my first prototypes at The 2010 International Houseware Show in Chicago, Illinois.
Overnight I received immense interest in The Bartule and knew I had something amazing on my hands.
After gaining Brooks Addington as a business partner that same year, we quickly took the business to the next level. Establishing multiple high end retail partners in the USA and beyond.
